Punk Justice

Warren Ellis is doing his damnedest to make sure i don’t work on things i should be working on. After last week’s Spider-movie poster, he issued another irresistable challenge this week over at Whitechapel.
Here’s the details:
“In 1975, while promoting the New York Dolls, Malcolm McLaren got some people from DC incapably drunk and walked off with a two-year license on one of their properties. Went back to London, changed the shop name from SEX to SEDITIONARIES, then said, “here, Viv, you reckon we could blag fifty grand off someone to make a fillum?”

1977. London. You have been tasked with producing the poster for Malcolm McLaren’s JUSTICE LEAGUE film.

What does that look like?”

Having graduated double natural, i had to go for this, again.

What If David Lynch Did Spider-Man?

Warren Ellis likes to issue creative challenges to artists fairly often over at Whitechapel, and his latest challenge was just too much fun to ignore. Especially after having just missed the Steampunk Batman challenge.

His latest challenge: “You must design a poster for a movie called SPIDER-MAN directed by David Lynch. This is all you know. ”
Here’s my result:
Spider-Man?

Much as i might like how mine came out, it really looks more graphic novel cover than movie poster. If you like the concept of this challenge, you should go check out the original thread – some great work being done, and still a few days left with more being posted all the time.
Here’s the Whitechapel Discussion Thread.

experiMental Theatre

Yes, the previously mentioned webcomic goes live in a little under 8 hours. Actually, the site is already live, with some pre-strip strips. But experiMental Report One’s first strip goes up at 3:03:03am Sunday morning. (Yes, i know i’m obsessed, thank you.)

experiMental Theatre is basically an experiment in Mental Theatre, externalized in comic form. In other words, i get to unleash some of the crawly things in the back of my head. So fair warning now – you never know when a strip might be NSFW. It was originally just labeled for language, but the last pre-strip allowed me to go ahead and label for nudity and violence – so, like i said, fair warning.

The first three strips will be updating daily, and then publication will continue on dates divisible by 3. (We already talked about obsession, right?)

See what happens when i post two days in a row?

What a week – power outages, net loss, and a biblical plague or two.

For most of the week i could only access the net for 15-20 minutes once or twice a day. But everything is restored at home now, so things are getting back to what passes for normal here.

But it’s not all damage control on the home front, some things have been moving forward as planned. You may recall that when i wrote of MASKS previously, i mentioned it was one of several things in the works.  Another project is debuting this coming Sunday – my new webcomic.

experiMental Theatre is going to be a bit different from what you’re used to seeing from me. Much looser, something of a raw underground style in stark black inks.  To show you what i mean, here’s a quick peak at the first panel of  Experiment One: TIM

This Is Me

Next time, a bit more about the strip, and an URL or two for it.
